Gentle Dental Surgery is a dental clinic operating in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The clinic is owned by Dr. Victor Tay and Dr. Esther. Dr. Victor Tay and Dr. Esther got in touch with our team to help them get first page rankings on Google and grow their dental website’s organic traffic.

Losing Money on Google Ads
They have been spending money advertising on Google ads but their campaign has not been successful. They wanted to reduce dependence on paying for traffic by getting more organic traffic to their website.
At that time, their website was no where near the 1st page of Google for the search terms that they were targeting. This affected the amount of organic traffic that they were getting and resulted in getting less inquiries for their website.
After performing a quick SEO audit on their website, our SEO consultant was able to pin point several issues on their website that may have caused low rankings on Google.
Some of the issues were:
- Their website’s homepage did not have H1, title and description tag.
- The keywords that they were targeting was not found anywhere on the homepage and other pages on their website.
- On the homepage, a list of services provided is mentioned. However, there is no link to click if the website visitor wants to know more about the services provided.
Our SEO consultant identified several keywords that their website is already ranking for on page 3 and page 4 of Google. This indicated that their website, especially the homepage was not optimized with the proper content and structure to rank further for those keywords.

The Process
Our SEO consultant came up with several recommendations to be executed immediately on their website.
Installed SEO All in One plugin (Since their website was built using WordPress).
Added the Title, H1 and Description tag to the website’s homepage. Wrote the copy containing the targeted keywords for each of these individual elements.
Added a block of content right after the H1 tag on the homepage to let Google know what this website is all about. This content block contains the targeted keywords and it was written in a natural way to avoid being penalized by Google for keyword stuffing.
Recommended several service pages to be built and provided the exact title, URL structure and H1 tag to use for these pages.
Once the services pages have been built, we recommended internal links to be built from the homepage to the individual services pages.
What we did not do:
We did not build any backlinks to the website. It wasn’t necessary at that time because we wanted to make sure that any ranking improvement was solely due to the on page SEO work that we’ve done. At the same time, link building, if not done correctly, can be detrimental to a website’s ranking. We wanted to avoid that situation at all cost.
The Result
It didn’t take long before their website started to move up in the search engines. Within 3 months, their website was already on the 1st page of Google for one of their targeted search terms.
